What we do, and what we don't
One regulated activity, money lending, carried on in our own name.
Direct lending under licence
We lend our own funds to individuals and businesses under our money lender's licence. We assess each application on its merits, and not every application is approved.
Licence numbers in Hong Kong change when a licence is renewed. Before you borrow from any lender, check its current entry in the Companies Registry's published list of money lenders licensees.
Written terms first
You see the principal, the interest rate as a percentage per year, every charge and the full repayment schedule in writing before you sign.
Affordability first
We look at your income and existing commitments. We would rather decline than lend an amount you cannot comfortably repay.
What "Capital" in our name does not mean
The word "Capital" is part of our registered company name only. We do not manage investments, give investment advice, deal in securities or carry on any activity regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission. We are not a bank and we do not take deposits. We do not arrange loans from other lenders or act as anyone's agent.
How a loan is made
Every step is documented, and you can stop at any point before signing.
Enquiry
Contact us directly by the phone number or email on this page. No intermediary acts for us.
Assessment
We review your identity, address, income and existing debts. There is no application fee.
Written offer
The full terms are set out in writing. Take them away, compare them and ask questions.
Agreement
You sign at our office and receive your own copy of the signed agreement within 7 days.
Repayment
You pay only into the company's own account, and you can ask in writing for a statement at any time.
Term comparison
A longer term lowers each instalment but raises the total interest. See the trade-off for any loan offer before you choose a term.
For illustration only. The figures are not an offer, quotation or indication of our rates. The tool uses equal monthly instalments at the effective annual rate you enter and leaves out fees. Your agreement sets out the actual figures.
Bar height shows total interest payable for each term, scaled to the longest term.
Interest-rate limits
The Money Lenders Ordinance sets two thresholds that protect every borrower in Hong Kong.
May be found extortionate
A court may treat an effective rate above 36% per year as extortionate and reopen the transaction.
Unlawful above this rate
No one may lend at an effective rate above 48% per year, and such an agreement is unenforceable.
The figure that counts is the effective annual rate, which includes all interest and charges. A monthly "flat" rate can hide a much higher effective rate. Always ask for the yearly percentage in writing. This summary is general information, not legal advice. For advice on a specific agreement, consult a solicitor.
Cheaper routes first
A money lender is rarely the lowest-cost option. Look at these before you apply to us or to anyone else.
Your bank
Banks often price personal and instalment loans lower for existing customers. Ask for the effective annual rate and compare.
Talk to creditors
A payment plan agreed with the company you owe usually costs less than a new loan to pay it off.
Debt counselling
Non-profit social service organisations in Hong Kong offer free, confidential debt counselling. Use it before refinancing one debt with another.
Consumer Council
Free information on credit products, and a route for consumer complaints.
We will never
Fraudsters use the names of licensed lenders. If any of these happen in our name, it is not us.
- ✕Ask for any fee, deposit or "handling charge" before a loan is paid out.
- ✕Appoint agents, intermediaries or "loan consultants", or pay anyone for referrals.
- ✕Ask for your bank PIN, one-time password, online-banking login or ATM card.
- ✕Ask you to repay into a personal account, or by cryptocurrency or gift cards.
- ✕Contact you from a phone number or email address other than those on this page.
- ✕Guarantee approval regardless of your income or credit history.
If it happens
Do not pay. Report it to the Police or call the Anti-Scam Helpline on 18222, then tell us at the email address below.
To check any lender's licence, search the Companies Registry's list of money lenders licensees.
